about
Following the release of their debut album 'Last Light', Syrup, Go On focused the majority of 2020 aiming to write songs in as simple a way as possible - often with just an acoustic guitar and vocals. A second full length album was written and scrapped before the band found themselves satisfied with the new direction that is presented through Lavender Sky. The song shares the feeling of new-found freedom and rediscovered autonomy.
The simpler approach to presenting a feeling or story has given way to production choices which elevate and highlight the song rather than convolute it. Embracing technology and sounds popular with growing and difficult to ignore genres such as hyperpop, the track implements formant shifted vocals as well as programmed drums to create a fresh space within a crowded dreampop genre.
lyrics
Meaningless exchanges tying you down
Full bursts and forces are pushing around
Loose grips on ideas floating away
Smells fill your nose leads your mind astray.
Down to your back porch
And you see your friends getting lost in the lavender sky
Lavender sky
Long talks and memories are filling the room
Small potted flowers starting to bloom
Loose grips on ideas floating away
Smells fill your nose leads your mind astray
To the lavender sky
Down to your back porch and you see your friends they're getting lost in lavender sky
Lavender sky

Shoegaze ist die Kunst des Dröhnens, doch „Everything Is Alive“ setzt diese Elemente nur sparsam ein. Statt Hall- und Zerr-Sounds aufzutürmen, schäumt die Musik in feinen Bläschen über.
